The mission of the department is to empower Illinois’ veterans, as well as their dependents and survivors, to thrive by assisting them in obtaining the benefits to which they are entitled; by providing long-term health care for eligible veterans; and by partnering with other agencies and nonprofits to help veterans address education, mental health, housing, employment, and other challenges.
The impacts of COVID-19 continue to have effects on the agency and its functions, resulting in larger than normal differences when compared to historic figures and trends.
