The Coroner Training Board Act (55 ILCS 135/1 et seq.) creates the Illinois Coroner Training Board. It provides statutorily and administratively mandated training for Illinois coroners, sets mandatory reporting requirements for local governments, sets standards for Death Investigation Training, and assures training enrollee compliance with statutory enrollment requirements.
The Board conducts the statutorily mandated training required of all new coroners (55 ILCS 5/3-3001(b)), provides training to assist coroners in meeting the statutorily mandated 24-hour in-service training requirement (55 ILCS 5/3-3001(c)), and provides a process for waiver of training requirements predicated upon prior training and experience for Death Investigator Training (55 ILCS 135/30(b)).
The Board holds, at a minimum, four meetings annually to present a forum for discussion of Board business and emerging training issues, and to assess current training programs.
