Explanatory Information
The Bureau of Environmental Programs (Bureau) protects the public and the State’s natural resources by licensing, registering, permitting, and inspecting various agribusinesses and producers. Licenses, registrations, and certificates are issued for pesticide products, pesticide applicators, the nursery industry, and phytosanitary exports. Variances in the number of pesticide applicators and products registered reflected above are primarily due a change in reporting methods for fiscal year 2021, which is presented as the number of applicator licenses and product registrations granted during the year, while previous years are reported as total number of licenses and registrations active at the end of the fiscal year. Reporting for licenses and registration completed during the fiscal year, as opposed to reporting all licenses and registrations at the end of the fiscal year, will continue going forward. In addition, registrations and licenses can be granted for different time periods, and a variance between fiscal years can be expected.
Footnotes
The number of pesticide applicators is being reported differently this fiscal year. Previous years listed the total number of applicators holding a license. (Licenses are valid for 3 years). This report only includes the number of licenses issued during the fiscal year. The number of products registered is being reported differently this fiscal year. Previous years listed the total number of products registered. This report only includes the number of products registered during the fiscal year. (Registrations are valid for 2 years) Inspections were not conducted due to COVID-19 shutdown and restrictions imposed on inspection process. No data available for this time period. Survey was not conducted.
