Agency Narrative

In fiscal year 2022, ALPLM's attendance largely bounced back from pandemic related closures in fiscal years 2020-2021, and ALPLM had a number of accomplishments and steps toward its mission including but not limited to:

  • Received core document approval from the American Alliance of Museums, the first hurdle in museum accreditation
  • Launched Team Lincoln individual/family membership program, signing up over 630 members in the inaugural year
  • Launched the “Abe for All” initiative to make the ALPLM more welcoming and accessible to people with hearing loss, blindness, autism and other conditions
  • Collaborated with Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center to present their exhibit “Stories of Survival”, including related improvements to Mr. Lincoln’s Theater
  • Received first donations into the ALPLM Public Trust Fund
  • Received a grant to digitize thousands of Lincoln images for online availability
  • Opened nursing room for use by staff and the visiting public
  • Displayed Emancipation Proclamation in the Library, allowing visitors to view it for free
  • Launched agency sustainability committee
