The Illinois Human Rights Commission is dedicated to promoting freedom from unlawful discrimination as defined by the Illinois Human Rights Act and to providing a neutral forum for resolving complaints of discrimination filed under the Act. |

- Freedom from unlawful discrimination against any individual because of their: Age (40+); Ancestry; Arrest Record; Citizenship Status (with regard to employment); Color; Conviction Record; Disability (physical and mental); Familial Status (with respect to real estate transactions); Gender Identity; Marital Status; Military Status; National Origin; Orders of Protection; Pregnancy; Race; Religion; Retaliation; Sex; Sexual Harassment; Sexual Orientation or Unfavorable Military Discharge.

Fiscal year 2020 Actual - Number of cases received with the commission totaled 524 cases, including: 71 complainant-filed complaints, 139 Department of Human Rights-filed complaints, 297 requests for reviews, and 17 settlements. Fiscal year 2020 Actual – Number of cases closed/disposed of totaled 720 including: 10 administrative closures, 65 Final Orders and Decisions, 16 Department of Human Rights settlements, 593 requests for review, 3 Administrative Law Section settlements, 11 full Commission En Banc matters, and 22 notices of no exceptions. Fiscal year 2021 Actual – Number of cases received with the commission totaled 500 cases, including: 92 complainant-filed complaints, 106 Department of Human Rights-filed complaints, 293 requests for reviews, 2 defaults, and 7 settlements. Fiscal year 2022 Actual – Number of cases received with the commission totaled 383 cases, including: 30 complainant-filed complaints, 73 Department of Human Rights-filed complaints, 261 requests for reviews, 4 defaults, and 15 settlements. Fiscal year 2022 Actual – Number of cases closed/disposed of totaled 506, including: 8 Administrative Closures, 86 Final Orders and Decisions, 15 Department of Human Rights settlements, 325 Requests for Review, 6 ALS Settlements, 7 Commission Matters, and 59 Notice of No Exceptions.
