Agency Narrative
The Illinois Independent Tax Tribunal began operations on January 2, 2014 and concluded its eighth fiscal year as an administrative law court and as a state agency under the executive branch of state government. The Tax Tribunal provides an independent, fair and transparent forum for taxpayers who wish to contest assessed state tax liabilities imposed by the Illinois Department of Revenue. One of its major accomplishments was the creation of its public website, which allows the public to view all filings and orders in every case and posts a daily court calendar and a copy of all final decisions.
