Mission Statement The Office of Statewide Pretrial Services (OSPS) was established by the Supreme Court in August 2021 to provide comprehensive pretrial services as statutorily mandated by Illinois’ Pretrial Services Act, 725 ILCS 185, and to support counties served by OSPS in complying with the pretrial provisions of P.A. 101-652 and P.A. 102-1104.

A pretrial investigation is completed prior to a defendant’s initial appearance, or as directed by the court, for the purpose of providing information to the judge when considering pretrial release or detention. A supervised defendant is a person on pretrial release who the judge orders to be supervised by a pretrial officer.
