The Illinois Deaf and Hard of Hearing Commission (IDHHC) received 18,970 public inquiries and distributed 24,550 educational and informational materials to the public through the Communication Access for Individuals with Hearing Loss program. The Commission enhanced communication access by sponsoring and/or hosting professional development opportunities for 96 participants who are sign language interpreters. The Commission also conducted testing, evaluation, and licensing for sign language interpreters for the deaf by processing 1,737 applications, issuing 1,023 licenses, and administering 166 Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) certification tests.
