Agency Narrative
The Property Tax Appeal Board (PTAB) implemented an online filing system in 2022. The agency continues to see an increase in appeal cases filed. Since the implementation of the online filing portal, and through the hiring of additional administrative law judges, the agency has increased productivity. PTAB closed a record 45,418 cases in fiscal year 2024. The agency closed 38,905 cases in fiscal year 2025 and projects more than 40,000 cases to be closed in fiscal year 2026. PTAB is currently developing an electronic stipulation portal for expediting settlements between taxpayers and the Cook County Board of Review. Through the application of technology, streamlining the entire life cycle of an appeal, PTAB is ensuring faster and more efficient service for taxpayers and taxing districts alike.
