2025 Weights and Measures
Mission Statement Ensure fair and equitable trade practices by the business community with Illinois consumers by inspecting and testing all measuring devices used in commercial transactions. Evaluate the quality of gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene, propane, and other petroleum products offered for sale.
Program Goals and Objectives
  1. Provide timely and accurate inspections.
    1. Complete inspections in a timely manner.
  2. Assure that an appropriate and certified device is being used.
    1. Inspect 100% of all known devices each year.
    2. Reduce instances of inappropriate activity/device use.
  3. Provide comprehensive, consistent, and fair inspections that follow the Department's policies and procedures.
    1. Survey customers to assess satisfaction with inspection policies and procedures.
  4. Ensure public confidence in system integrity.
    1. Survey customers to improve integrity of commercial measurement.
    2. Reduce the number of complaints about accuracy.
  5. Provide for the accuracy of measuring devices.
    1. Increase the overall percentage of devices that measure accurately.
